Everything you're wondering about...
Honestly? We'd be shocked if they didn't.
theINmag is made entirely by kids, for kids - every story, artwork, comic, problem and poem inside was created by a real Aussie child, just like yours.
When kids see other kids being celebrated for their creativity, something clicks. They stop thinking "I'm not good enough" and start thinking "I could do that."
We've had parents tell us their child read the whole thing cover to cover on the day it arrived - and then immediately asked for paper and pencils. That's the goal.
theINmag was originally designed for primary-aged kids - roughly 5 to 13 - but honestly, the community has surprised us.
We've published creators as young as 4 and as old as 16, and we've had more than a few parents admit they're a little obsessed themselves.
The sweet spot is 7 to 13, but if your child loves making things, writing, drawing, or just seeing the world through a creative lens, they'll find something in here for them.
All submissions come through the online form right here on our website - and that's intentional.
As a team of teachers, child safety is at the absolute core of everything we do. Our submission process is fully Child Safe compliant, which means your child's content is handled securely, respectfully, and with their best interests front and centre.
Head to the Send IN Content (https://www.theinmag.com.au/send-in-content)page, fill in the form, and who knows - your kid could be in the next issue.
Three times a year - in February, June and October.
We've found that this has been the most successful 'flow' for the mag. It means we've got plety of time to collect high-quality content, and allow for local printing and shipping timelines. And means there's always something fresh to inspire kids (and give parents a brilliant screen-free activity right when they need it most).
Subscribe and each new issue lands straight in your letterbox without you having to think about it. Plus, you'll save some $$$
theINmag isn't a textbook - and that's exactly the point.
We believe real learning happens when kids are curious, creative and engaged in the world around them. Reading another child's story introduces new vocabulary and language techniques in a way no worksheet ever could. Seeing how a mate approached a maths problem shows kids that there's more than one way to think. A sculpture, a veggie patch, a poem about a pet - these things teach observation, expression and pride in craft.
Across every issue you'll find literacy, visual arts, creative writing, STEAM thinking and so much more - all rooted in real children's real experiences.
It's learning that doesn't feel like learning. Which, as any teacher will tell you, is the best kind.
Every family is different, but here's what we hear most: the mag comes out at the kitchen table, someone flips to a random page and asks "what does this make you want to create?" - and then the pencils come out.
Some families use it as a screen-free wind-down after school. Others make it a school holidays ritual, or a bedtime read.
Many kids flip flip through hunting for inspiration and start planning what they're going to send in next. However it lands in your home, it tends to spark something.
We ship all printed orders via Australia Post.
Most orders arrive within a few days, though we've occasionally seen deliveries take up to two weeks - Australia's a big place!
We offer free shipping on orders over $40, so bundling a few issues or grabbing a subscription is a great way to make the most of that.
Please allow a little extra time if you're in a regional or remote area.
Unfortunately, yes - once a printed issue sells out, it's gone. Print setup costs mean we can only ever do one run of each mag, so when they're gone, they're gone. That's why we always recommend grabbing issues early, or subscribing so you never miss one.
The good news? Every issue is available digitally, and the digital version has a pretty great bonus - there are no limits on sharing. You get a PDF you can send to friends, family, teachers, grandparents, anyone. One purchase, unlimited reach. Pretty good deal.
Not yet - theINmag is currently Australia-only for printed copies.
International shipping and customs costs were genuinely eye-watering (we're talking $40+ to post a $24 mag), so for now our overseas friends are best served by the digital version. It's not quite the same as holding the real thing, but it's the same content - and you can share it with everyone you know.
