Ryan here guys. In a past life (before vanlife, magazines, and a tiny sidekick named Nora), I was a general classroom teachers and a numeracy specialist. I was lucky enough to be part of some of the best training - PMSS, TEP, the whole shebang.

Even with all that, it still took ages to really figure out the difference between 'mathematics' and 'numeracy'. Tbh… I’m still figuring it out. 😅 They're so very tightly linked!

So I thought I’d break it down the way I wish someone had explained it to me back then - super simple, friendly, and zero jargon. That’s what this carousel is all about.

Here she is - design extraordinaire - Lou!!

Here’s a bit of an insight into a somewhat typical day as a designer. Admittedly, this is from a few weeks ago, while she was working hard on the latest issue, Mag08!

Between the dog walks and chasing the kids around, Lou manages to squeeze in a pretty massive day working on getting all the beautiful layout spot on for the mag.

Bonus points if you spotted her hubby Alex floating the mag behind her in the time lapse.

Honestly, this wheel was whipped up pretty quickly (then the amazing Lou tidied it up), but long story short, it took us eight issues to finally realise we needed to give ourselves a solid window for submissions - we're slow learners! Now kids, parents, and teachers have a clear idea of when content might be published - clarity is everything!

But here’s the thing: we want your thoughts. This is for kids, so readability is super important.
